Palyja Disconnects Illegal Water Connection

Clean water thievery by installing illegal connection is still rampant. West Jakarta mineral water operator in West Jakarta, PT PAM Lyonnaise Jaya together with PAM Jaya, and police were successfully disconnect illegal water channel in Kebon Tebu, RT 019/RW 017, Muara Baru, Penjaringan Urban Village, North Jakarta.

On the operation which conducted on Thursday (5/22), at least there were seven illegal channel disconnected. Those were six pipes of 0.75 diameters and one pipe with 1 inch diameter.

" Those seven channels are connected or distributed to resident's houses around the area ," said Meyritha Maryanie, Palyja Communication Corporate and Social Responsibility Head Division, Thursday (5/22).

According to her, there was also active Palyja consumer, with two meters cubic of average usage per month, sold water to water seller. "We also disconnect the channel directly," she added.

Maryanie added that this operation was aimed to decrease water loss level or Non Revenue Water (NRW) across Palyja service area, also to increase service to customers who more deserve enjoying clean water service.

Based on the data in 2013, Maryanie stated, Palyja found 387 illegal connections provided by non customers and 3,109 water thievery done by customers. Meanwhile, there were 111 spots of illegal channels from January to April 2014. About 145,007 meter cubic or similar with 7,632 customers had been saved. As much as 762 thievery cases were also found during that period.
